Anmol's magic leads ANG thrashing

Report by GGSA Staff

Ram Sports 159/2 in 20 overs (Mayank 106, Prakhar 30, Nilesh 2/33) defeated ANG Enterprises XI 85/10 in 14 overs (Vidit 21, Ritik 18, Shubham 3/2) by 74 runs.

Another sluggish pitch, another batting disaster in second inning. ANG Enterprises who won their first match convincingly, suffered a huge setback in their second match. Ram sports made a fine comeback to make the points table interesting.

Mayank, the Ram sports captain won the toss in the second match of the day and elected to bat as he was very aware of two facts, first is that it was a must win game for his team and second the tournament history so far.

Mayank opened the inning with Prakhar and put on the best partenership of 149 runs for any wicket in the tournament. Most of the damage was done by Mayank as he struck 9 fours and 4 sixes during his inning of 106 runs. His inning was incredible looking at the fact that he just played 68 balls and on the other hand Prakhar was struggling to time the ball as he ended up scoring 30 of 44 balls (which shows the slowness of the pitch). ANG bowlers had terrible time out in the middle specially Abhinav was expensive as he gave away 31 runs in his 3 overs. Abhishek was effective with his slow medium pace but he failed to put much pressure on the batsmen as runs were leaking on the other ends. The fielding of ANG XI was below par.

ANG XI had a huge task ahead of them as no team has so far won a match chasing in this tournament so far. The wicket got slower in the second inning. Although they got a steady start, runs were not coming courtesy of some tight bowling and great fielding. ANG were in the game for first 10 overs as they needed 80 runs in last 10, but after the drinks break, the inning stumbled and they were bundled out for 85 runs. Vidit top scored with 21 runs. Ram sports bowlers were exceptionally good with line and length that Shubham gave away just 2 runs in his 2 overs to pick up 2 wickets while Vishes was even better with 4 runs in his 3 overs as he dissmissed two batsmen. Sparsh also chipped in with 3 key wickets.
