Ritesh's fiver crushes Awasthi sports in tournament opener

Review by GGSA official

Raj Traders 146/10 in 20.0 overs (Sawez Khan 31, Akash 25, Nikhil 23, Parth 3/37) defeated Awasthi Sports 107/10 in 19.2 overs (Yash 36, Aman 17, Parth 10, Ritesh 5/18) by 39 runs

In the opening match of late Surinder Singh Sardar memorial Under-15 league, played at Guru Govind Singh stadium Kanpur, Parth Sapru, the son of former UP cricketer Rahul Sapru and the captain of Awasthi Sports won the toss and elected to put Raj traders in to bat first. Akash (25) and Vedansh (6) gave them a steady start as they added 35 runs in 4.5 overs for first wicket but both the openers were dismissed in quick succession. Gopal got out early as well and Raj traders were struggling at 4 for 62 in 13th over when Shawez (31) and Nikhil (23) joined in to form a great partnership of 68 runsof just 37 balls. Awasthi sports were not disciplined with their bowling either as they conceded 30 extras which made things easy for Raj traders as they posted a decent total of 146 in their 20 overs.

In reply reply Awasthi sports got off to a flying start lead by Aman Yadav (17) and Yash Upadhyay (36) but once they got out, middle order failed miserably that they went from 44 for one to 79 for 6. Extras were third highest scorer for Awasthi sports. Ritesh who came in to bowl in 8th over, was the chief destroyer with his figures of 4-018-5. Akash complemented Ritesh beautifully by picking up the key wicket of Aman Yadav and later he bamboozled the lower order with his street smart bowling as they both bundled out Awasthi sports for 107 in 19th over.
