Elga Chemists 107/5 in 20 overs (Shivang 46, Sunny 17, Yashvardhan 10, Arbaz 2/4) defeated Ram sports 93/9 in 20 overs (Vishesh 22, Mayank 11, Sparsh 10, Mayank Sahu 4/15) by 14 runs
Elga Chemists took on Ram sports in the second match of Late Surinder Sardar memorial under-15 league on a hot afternoon of Kanpur's Summer. The humidity was high and so was the competition in the middle between two young teams. Mhd. Hassan, the captain of Elga Chemists didn't made the mistake made by Parth Sapru in the previous match as he elected to bat first. The pitch got slower in the second inning of first match and this game was played on the same track so it was expected to behave worst in the virtual 4th inning. The Elga chemist openers failed to make any impact as they both were back in the dugout in only 4th over. Yashvardhan (10) and Sunny (17) tried to build a partnership but they failed to make a big one. Dipankar broke the partnership and Elga Chemists were in a spot of bother when Shivang arrived. Yashvardhan was slow in his inning as he took 27 balls for his 10 but he stayed in there with Shivang to help EC to reach a respectable total. With some late surge by lower order and Shivang, Chemists posted a respectable total of 107 in their 20 overs. Arbaz finished with magical figures of 2 for 4 in his four overs for Ram Sports.
As expected, the pitch got slower in the second inning and since it was 4th inning of the day, the pitch was already under 45 degree C for almost 8 hours, it broke apart so badly that it made strokeplay almost impossible. Although the target of 108 looks ordinary on paper but it was equal to 200 on this track. The batsmen of Ram sports struggled from start as their openers together consumed 45 balls for just 18 runs. Vishesh was looked good but was unfortunate as he got run out as a result of a mixup and from there, the young batsmen of Ram Sports had no clue of what to do on such a diabolical pitch. Their middle order was rattled by Mayank Sahu and in the end, they were forced to somehow play out the 20 overs. The lack of experience was evident in Ram sports batting lineup as they failed to rotate the strike against the spinners in the middle overs.
