Traders chased down first target in the tournamet

Post by GGSA Staff

GAIL Utkarsh XI 94/10 in 17.2 overs (Pranjul 25, Tushar 16, Akash 3/20) lost to Raj Traders 97/4 in 11.2 overs (Akash 35, Shawez 29, Tushar 1/13) by 6 wickets

Both the teams came into this encounter with full of confidence as they both had 2 points to their name but GAIL Utkarsh XI were the team with overconfidence as they thrashed Anmol stars by 113 runs in their previous match. Captain Eklavya won the toss and he had no hesitation to bat first.

Unlike the previous game, the openers failed to provide a good start to GAIL XI and the middle order failed miserably. Most of the batsmen threw away their wickets to leave their team reeling at 35/6. Thanks to some late hitting by Pranjul and extras conceded by Traders, GAIL XI reached into the nineties but they failed to make full use of their 20 overs as they were dismissed for 95 in just 17.2 overs. Akash was the chief destroyer with 3 for 20 and he was brilliantly complemented by Aradhana 2/20 and Eklavya 2/21.

Although 95 was too small of a target for any team, the demons in the pitch of 4th inning gave some hope to the GAIL XI. Vedansh lofted first ball straight to long of where he was caught brilliantly but then Rajat (18) and Akash (35) put on a 40 run partnership and made sure there no more collapse. Shawez (29) continued his good form with the bat and took Traders to second victory of the tournament and first while chasing by any team. Saurav Verma, the key bowler to GAIL XI, went for 14 in his first over which made it perfectly imperfect day for GAIL XI.
