Saurabh's hattrick knocks ANG out

Post by GGSA Staff

Elga Chemists 149/6 in 20 overs (Shivang 61, Rudra 21, Hassan 15, Shivendra 1/15) defeated ANG Sports 79/10 in 14.3 overs (Vaibhav 19, Vidit 15, Ashish 11*, Saurabh 3/9) by 70 runs.

While Elga chemists were sitting on top of the table and were in knockouts even if they lose this match, ANG were in a spot of bother as they had to win this match to qualify. Their batting linup has failed so far, their fielding was sloppy which cost them the previous match. The bowling was off the radar as well.

Winning the toss, Elga chemists elected to bat first which has became a tradition in this tournament. Sunny (09) and Shivang (61) got them of to a steady start as they put on 34 runs for first wicket. ANG bowlers bowled well but were wayward at times while their fielding was worst as they dropped Shivang twice and missed a few run outs as well. Cameos from Rudra and Hassan took Elga Chemists to a commanding total of 149. Rashid was pick of the bowlers with his figures of 1-12.

In reply, Sidak Singh who had a poor day on field, failed to impress with the bat as well. Vidit put up some fight with his 15, but Saurabh removed him along with Ritik and Satyam on consecutive deliveries of his third over to complete first hattrick of the tournament. Timing was not easy on the sluggish surface but 11 year old Vaibhav came in at number 7, played some beautifull shots to keep the hopes alive with Asish (11) but once he got out, it was all but over for ANG. Five of the ANG batsmen were dismissed for a duck while only 3 made it to the double figures. Saurabh picked up 3 for 9 while Mayank 2/16 and Yash 2/1 complemented him so well to thrash ANG by 70 runs and storm their way into the semifinals.
