Kshitij bamboozled Awasthi sports to lead GAIL XI into knockouts

Post by GGSA Staff

Awasthi Sports 78/10 in 18.1 overs (Aman 25, Yash 23, Aquib 09, Kshitij 5/13) lost to GAIL Utkarsh XI 81/1 in 11.3 overs (Ravi 46, Akash 10, Harshit 05, Arpit 1/16) by 9 wickets.

Awasthi Sports were playing GAIL Utkarsh XI in a virtual quarterfinal on Wednesday morning at Guru Govind Singh Cricket Stadium. GAIL XI won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision was not surprising looking at the pitch which was a bit damp and was expected to settle down later in the day. Awasthi Sports captain Parth Sapru looked unhappy with the kind of pitch provided for such an important match.

Awasthi sports failed to get a good start as Parth was dismissed in very second over courtesy of a great return catch by Pranshu. Yash (23) and Aman (25) tried to rebuild but once their partnership of 23 run was broken, no batsmen were able to get going as Awasthi Sports tumbled from 41 for two to 46 for 6. Kshitij was the chief destroyer with his figures of 5 for 13. Five of the Awasthi sports batsmen were not able to open their account.

78 was never going to be a tough total for GAIL XI as they have one of the strongest batting lineup in the tournament. Ravi (46*) and Akash (10) got GAIL XI off to a flying start courtesy of some terrible fielding from Awasthi sports fielders. After that the match was a formality as Harshit kept enjoying some greats strokes on display from Ravi Shastri. GAIL XI chased down the target in just 11.3 overs.
